Pacific Angler Fishing Charters was started because we are passionate about fishing and introducing people in and around Vancouver to our amazing waters and the fish that inhabit them. We have been guiding for salmon, sturgeon and other species in Vancouver for decades and we are excited to share our expertise and passion with you on the Mighty Fraser, fishing for some of the largest fresh water fish in the world!
The only thing we like more than catching fish ourselves is helping other people catch fish. There is something about the smile on someone’s face when they catch their first BC sturgeon! Therein in truly lies the joy of fishing and guiding itself, the catching is just a small part of it, but the journey, the experience, and the friendships gained along the way are what truly make it special.

Jason Tonelli
Owner/Guide - Pacific AnglerJason grew up in the Lower Mainland, spending every minute he could on the banks of the Fraser, bar fishing for salmon and sturgeon or float fishing the many local streams for steelhead. Each summer family vacations took him to Vancouver Island where he learned to saltwater fish from his uncle around the Strait of Georgia for coho and chinook in the 80’s and 90’s. At the age of 19 he got his first guiding job in in Rivers Inlet and later guided in Haidaii Gwaii and Dundas into his 20’s and early 30’s. Jason also worked at many local tackle shops and in 2007 he started his own retail and guiding company called Pacific Angler. Since then, he has called Vancouver home and has been guiding for salmon in the saltwater and freshwater and has never stopped chasing the Mighty Fraser sturgeon since his first battle with one on the banks of Derby Reach in Fort Langley as a young angler.
Loyola O'Neill
Sturgeon Fishing guide - Pacific AnglerLoyola has spent most of his life with a rod in his hand or behind the helm of a fishing boat and has fished for over 30 years on various river systems, lakes and oceans around Canada. Growing up in Newfoundland, he spent all of his free time either out on the water fishing or in the woods hunting for moose with family and developed a deep passion for angling over his childhood. Loyola moved to the west coast 20 years ago and has spent more days in the outdoors or on the water than he can count. After spending several seasons exploring the Skeena, Nass Valley and Fraser River systems he decided that guiding was his full time calling and he's been providing great fishing experiences for guests ever since. As an entrepreneur, owning several successful businesses over the years - Loyola knows the value of customer service and providing a great experience and looks forward to welcoming you aboard for an unforgettable day on the water. When Loyola isn't guiding for Sturgeon on the Fraser River, he enjoys fishing for permit and bonefish in the Caribbean and exploring watersheds, lakes and rivers throughout BC
The Boat
You will spend the day on the river aboard our 22’ Thunder Jet Alexis Classic jet boat. Powered by a 350hp Kodiak engine and a Hamilton 212 jet pump, it cruises at a crisp 30 mph, getting you to the fishing hot spots in a hurry. The boat also features a closed top, drop curtains, and heat, so on those cooler days, you can travel and fish in comfort. There are 2 front seats and two bench seats, so all 4 anglers have plenty of room and storage. The raised back deck is the perfect open and spacious platform to fish 4 rods and do battle with these amazing fish. In short, this is a sturgeon fishing machine!
When it comes to gear, we like to fish the best and spare no expense on our boats, tackle, and maintenance. Our boat is expertly appointed with premium rods and reels and the latest in fish finding technology. We use a Lowrance HDS-9 Live with High CHIRP DownScan and SideScan sonar technology that allows us to literally see the sturgeon in our favorite fishing spots.
