2024 Season Recap
As December arrives, we’re officially putting the jet boat to rest for the season, and what a season it’s been! From spring through late fall, 2024 delivered incredible sturgeon fishing with few lulls and plenty of encounters with Fraser River giants.
Fine-Tuning the Right Bait
This season, success hinged on using the right bait. The sturgeon were particularly picky at times, keying in on very specific scents and presentations. Experimentation was essential, and having a variety of bait options ready proved pivotal. Our guides worked tirelessly to figure out what the fish wanted on any given day, and the payoff was well worth the effort. Some of the best trips in recent years came from dialing in these details.
Salmon Returns and Unprecedented Action
One of the biggest highlights of the year was the exceptional salmon return in late summer and fall. This influx of food into the Fraser led to some unforgettable sturgeon action, particularly in the lower river. Double-digit catch days became almost routine, and the fights these fish put up were nothing short of legendary. The power, size, and endurance of these giants reminded us why the Fraser River remains one of the best sturgeon fisheries in the world.
Winter on the Fraser
With colder temperatures settling in, food in the river becomes scarce, and sturgeon naturally slow their metabolism. While they don’t leave the Fraser, these fish enter a semi-hibernation state to conserve energy during the winter months. It’s still possible to hook into a sturgeon this time of year, but we prefer to let these giants rest and recharge until spring.
